D & SASTAS COSPLAY CUP

Our aim: to create a competition where everyone really feels welcome – no matter how long they’ve been cosplaying.

Our cosplay competition is deliberately aimed at absolutely everyone who loves cosplay – regardless of how much or how little experience they’ve already gained. We want to provide an opportunity to meet other cosplayers, gain experience and simply have fun!

To make getting started as easy as possible, we’re opting for a simple catwalk with pre-selected music. No one needs to prepare their own performance, and even if you decide to take part on the spur of the moment, you can join in without any extra effort and always under the same fair conditions – even if you only make up your mind once you’re there.

We truly welcome all kinds of cosplay: homemade, handcrafted, bought, borrowed or creatively combined. We want to show just how diverse the hobby of cosplay is, and give everyone, regardless of their craftsmanship or experience, the chance to proudly present their outfit.

Our judging panel awards four different prizes that recognise the various facets of cosplay: ‘Best in Character’, ‘Best Sewing’, ‘Best Crafting’ and ‘Best Hair & Makeup’.

In doing so, we deliberately distinguish between the creation of a character’s appearance and the embodiment of their personality. This ensures that every aspect of cosplay is given its own space and recognition.

For the categories “Best Sewing”, “Best Crafting” and “Best Hair & Makeup”, a brief assessment takes place before the performance. The jury looks for criteria such as faithfulness to the original, creativity and neatness. Those who have put a lot of love, effort and thought into their cosplay will be rewarded here.

The “Best in Character” category works differently: here, only the catwalk performance counts. How convincingly is the character portrayed? How well does the performance capture the character’s personality? No preliminary assessment is required – the stage alone decides.

When competing as a team, the overall score is calculated as the average of the individual scores. Each person contributes their own strengths, and together they create an overall picture that the jury evaluates fairly based on individual performances. This ensures the judging remains fair.

We also award an audience prize, which is decided solely by the audience’s votes. This allows the audience to play an active part in the competition and support their personal favourites – whether for an impressive performance, a charming delivery, or simply because a particular act really moved them.
