Welcome to the official HanaCon FAQ! Here you’ll find all the key information about our anime and manga convention, including tickets, travel, cosplay rules, programme highlights and accessibility.

General information

What is HanaCon and who is it for?

HanaCon is a convention celebrating Japanese and Korean culture, where fans of anime, manga, K-pop, J-pop, cosplay, traditional art and music come together.
Whether you’re interested in dance, language, traditions or modern pop culture – you’ll find like-minded people here! The event is suitable for all ages and invites you to discover the fascinating world of Japan and South Korea.

Is there a site map for the event?

Not yet. 🙂

What safety measures are in place at HanaCon?
  • Safety is our top priority! Before the first stands were even planned, we developed comprehensive safety plans for the venue to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • A team of around 120 crew members will be on hand to keep things in order and provide support.
  • A first-aid team is on standby for emergencies – don’t hesitate to speak to them if you need help!
Is there a lost property office?

Yes! The lost property office is located right by the entrance, next to the information desk.
If you’ve lost something or found something, please speak to our team there.

Can I attend HanaCon with a press pass?

Yes! If you’d like to attend HanaCon as a member of the press, please send an enquiry to [email protected].
Alternatively, you can speak to staff at the ticket desk – a member of the organising team will assess your request on the spot.

Tickets & Admission

Are there any discounts for people with disabilities?

Yes!
People with disabilities can bring a companion free of charge. Please bring your disability card with you and show it when collecting your wristband.

Do carers accompanying people with disabilities need their own ticket?

Yes, but it’s free!
Carers need their own ticket, but they receive this free of charge if they are accompanying a person with a disability to HanaCon.

Are there any group discounts or special rates for school pupils and students?

Yes!
Pupils aged 8 to 14 inclusive are entitled to a 50% discount on the ticket price.
Please bring proof of age with you. However, we do not offer group discounts.

Can I use a ticket to enter or leave multiple times?

Yes!
At the ticket office/wristband collection point, you’ll be given an entry wristband that allows you to enter and leave as often as you like during opening hours.

Are children under a certain age admitted free of charge?

Yes!
Children up to and including the age of 7 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

Cosplay & Rules

Is it OK to wear a cosplay costume with large wings or elaborate elements?

Please note our cosplay rules. There you will find all the information you need regarding the size and safety of your costumes.

Are there any restrictions on make-up or face coverings?

Yes, make-up and masks are allowed,
but they must be suitable for all ages and must not contain any prohibited symbols. Please ensure that your cosplay complies with the event guidelines.

What rules apply to cosplay photography on the premises?

Always ask for permission before taking a photo of someone.
Make sure you don’t disturb anyone or block escape routes. After that, you can take as many photos as you like.

Can I register for the cosplay competition on the day?

Registration must be completed in advance via a Microsoft Forms form.
Places are limited. If there are still places available, you can also register on the day at the information desk. This will be announced in good time.

Am I allowed to assemble or add to my cosplay on site?

Yes, as long as it doesn’t break the house rules or cosplay rules. Please make sure your setup doesn’t inconvenience other visitors.

Programme & Activities

Will there be autograph sessions or meet-and-greets with guests?

Yes! You can find the exact times and guests in the programme.

Can I suggest my own panel or event?

Yes, we’d love to hear your suggestions! Please pop along to the information desk, where we’re keeping a list of interested parties, or send us an email at[email protected].

Will certain sections or parts of the programme be streamed or recorded?

Yes, the stage programme will be recorded for internal purposes and promotional use.
Individual items on the programme may be filmed or streamed by members of the media or by the management.
Photographs will also be taken during the event. All photographers and videographers are required to obtain the consent of the people being filmed before taking any pictures or footage.

Are there any merchandise booths or an Artist Alley area?

Yes! You can find an overview in the room plan.

What other competitions are there besides the cosplay contest?

As well as the cosplay catwalk competition, there will be:

• 🎁 Several small competitions and activities

Accessibility & Other

Is the event accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes! All areas of HanaCon are at ground level and fully accessible.

Is there a way to store medicines or medical aids safely?

No. For reasons relating to insurance and liability, we are unable to store any medication or medical aids for visitors.

Are assistance dogs allowed at the event?

Yes! Assistance dogs are allowed.
If your dog needs water, please feel free to ask at the information desk.

Are there quiet areas for visitors with sensory needs?

No, there are currently no designated quiet areas.
