The workshop will explain the fundamental construction principles of a kimono and outline the differences between various forms and variations. It will also discuss which elements are actually necessary for authentic kimono-inspired cosplay and which can be omitted.
The workshop is aimed at both beginners and cosplayers who wish to explore traditional patterns and their application in greater depth.
Fiktive Charaktere: Ihre Existenz und sozialen Auswirkungen
with jacksreality
When?
Sunday, 1.40 pm – 2.40 pm
Language: 🇩🇪
In this talk, jacksreality, author of the book *Love in the Second Dimension*, explores the role that fictional characters play in our thinking and in society.
In doing so, he combines various theoretical approaches to form an overall picture of the existence and influence of fictional characters on fans and media culture. Topics such as imagination, consciousness and belief are addressed, as are concepts from philosophy and cognitive science – including the concept of ‘alief’.
Exciting questions are also discussed: How do we switch between different frames of reality? Why can characters from horror films frighten us, even though we know they are not real? And what lies behind concepts such as vertical information theory?
The talk is aimed at anyone interested in media, fan culture and the impact of stories.
