Awareness and safety
HanaCon is an event for children and young people. We want everyone to feel comfortable. Here is what applies and where you can get help.
HanaCon is an event for children and young people. There is no content that is harmful to minors. This applies to cosplay too: make-up and masks must be suitable for all ages and must not contain banned symbols.
Children up to 13 need an authorised adult companion. A so-called Muttizettel is required for this.
“Muttizettel” is the colloquial German term for the written authorisation by which parents or guardians entrust an adult with supervising their child.
You can find information on children’s prices and companions on the Info page.
Do you or someone else feel uncomfortable, pressured or harassed? Are you or someone else not feeling well and in need of support? Did you notice something that points to a boundary violation, or were your own boundaries not respected?
Then talk to us: either directly or with our safe word. You can approach the whole helper team. You can recognise the awareness team by its buttons.
- The info desk at the entrance next to the box office is the central point of contact.
- HanaAid, our team for first aid and awareness, is on site. Approach them if you need help or if you notice something.
- A large team of volunteer crew members takes care of order and support.
Safety concepts for the premises were developed before the first stands were planned.
If you feel uncomfortable or pressured and do not want to talk about it openly, ask the helper team:
“Wo sind die Kirschblüten?” (German for “Where are the cherry blossoms?”)
Say it to a member of the crew, HanaAid or the info desk. The team will then know that you need help.
By entering the event you agree, according to the terms and conditions (§ 6e), that the organiser and accredited press representatives may take and publish photos and videos of you as a participant for information, documentation and advertising purposes. In case of doubt, the terms and conditions apply.
The stage programme is recorded for internal purposes and advertising. Individual programme items may be filmed or streamed by media representatives or the management. Photos are also taken during the event.
Among visitors, this photo etiquette applies:
- Always ask for permission before you photograph someone.
- Do not disturb anyone and do not block escape routes.
The info desk helps if you have questions.
The cosplay rules list which props you may bring. Banned items cannot be stored on site.
The house rules are currently being revised. As soon as they are ready, you will find them on the Info page.
