Here you will find answers to the most common questions about HanaCon: from tickets and admission to cosplay, programme and accessibility.
What is HanaCon and who is it for?
HanaCon is a convention for Japanese and Korean culture where fans of anime, manga, K-pop, J-pop, cosplay, traditional art and music come together.
Whether you are into dance, language, traditions or modern pop culture – you will find like-minded people here! The event is suitable for all ages and invites you to discover the fascinating world of Japan and South Korea.
Is there a map of the event?
Not yet. 🙂
What security measures are in place at HanaCon?
- Safety is our top priority! Before the first stalls were planned, we developed comprehensive safety concepts for the venue to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- A team of about 120 crew members keeps order and provides support on site.
- A first aid team is on standby for emergencies – do not hesitate to approach them if you need help!
Is there a lost and found?
Yes! The lost and found is located right at the entrance at the info desk.
If you are missing or have found something, please ask our team there.
Are there discounts for people with disabilities?
Yes!
People with disabilities can bring one companion for free. Please bring your disability card and show it at the wristband desk.
Do companions of people with disabilities need their own ticket?
Yes, but it is free!
Companions need their own ticket, but receive it free of charge when they accompany a person with a disability to HanaCon.
Are there group discounts or special prices for pupils/students?
Yes!
Pupils aged 8 to 14 (inclusive) get 50 % off the ticket price.
Please bring proof of age. We do not offer group discounts, however.
Can I leave and re-enter with one ticket?
Yes!
At the day ticket desk/wristband desk you receive an entry wristband that allows unlimited entry and exit during opening hours.
Is admission free for children below a certain age?
Yes!
Children up to and including 7 years of age get free admission when accompanied by an adult.
Can I wear a cosplay with large wings or sprawling elements?
Please observe our cosplay rules. There you will find all information on the size and safety of your costumes.
Are there restrictions on make-up or masks?
Yes, make-up and masks are allowed,
but they must be suitable for all ages and must not contain any prohibited symbols. Please make sure your cosplay complies with the event guidelines.
What are the rules for cosplay photography on the premises?
Always ask for permission before photographing someone.
Take care not to disturb anyone or block escape routes. After that, you can take as many photos as you like.
Can I sign up for the cosplay contest on site?
Registration is done in advance via a Microsoft Forms form.
Spots are limited. If spots are still available, you can also sign up at the info desk on site. This will be announced in good time.
Can I set up or extend my cosplay on site?
Yes, as long as it does not violate the house rules or cosplay rules. Please make sure your setup does not affect other visitors.
Are there autograph sessions or meet & greets with guests?
Yes! You will find the exact times and guests in the programme booklet.
Can I suggest my own panel or event?
Are certain areas or programme items streamed or recorded?
Yes, the stage programme is recorded for internal purposes and promotion.
Individual programme items may be filmed or streamed by media representatives or management.
Photos are also taken during the event. All photographers and videographers are required to obtain the consent of the people they film before recording.
Are there merchandise stalls or an Artist Alley area?
Yes! You will find an overview in the room plan.
Which competitions are there besides the cosplay contest?
Besides the cosplay catwalk contest there are:

• 🎁 Several small prize draws and activities
Is the event accessible?
Yes! All areas of HanaCon are on one level and accessible.
Is there a way to store medication or medical aids safely?
No. For insurance and liability reasons we cannot keep medication or medical aids for visitors.
Are assistance dogs allowed at the event?
Yes! Assistance dogs are allowed.
If your four-legged companion needs water, feel free to ask at the info desk.
Are there quiet areas for visitors with sensory needs?
No, there are currently no dedicated quiet areas.
Does an application guarantee a spot?
No. An application is no guarantee of a spot. The team reads every application and gets back to you by e-mail.
How do I find out when a new call starts?
Calls that are not open yet show a “Notify me” button. Sign up for the newsletter there and you will hear as soon as applications start.
